A few weeks ago, we headed to Closter, NJ to join Abby and Davy for their wedding full of Jewish traditions at Temple Emanu-El. The temple is such a unique venue. It has a beautiful sanctuary for your ceremony, a ballroom for your reception, and a beautiful courtyard for cocktail. It is a venue worth visiting if you want to incorporate Jewish customs into your wedding day and have it all at one location. We photographed another wedding here years ago, so we were excited to head back. Caterer, Northern Valley Affairs, has the temple as its home base, and they do an amazing job. Abby and Davy’s wedding kicked-off the spring. Despite the breezy weather, we were able to head outside for photos before all the festivities.

Not only did Abby and Davy incorporate Jewish tradition into the wedding, but they also included many family members and friends in the customs as well. They started with a Tisch and Bedeken-a custom where the men and women celebrate separately to start. The groom is then brought to his bride to veil her before the ceremony. Abby and Davy exchanged their vows in the temple sanctuary under the most beautiful light. The sun seemed to peek through the stained glass at just the right time. Rabbis for both families participated in the ceremony and the bride’s sing sang a beautiful song. It was a beautiful ceremony to capture.

Following the ceremony, guests made their away across the synagogue to the ballroom. Here they were entertained by the Nick Campbell Band was they danced the night away. Guests also danced a pretty epic horah as well. Abby and Davy entered the pandemic having been on just a couple dates. They took a leap of faith and decided to go through quarantine together. Along the way they were engaged, planned a wedding, and ended their pandemic story as husband and wife! You can see the love that they share in every photo. This was such a fun wedding to capture.

Also… We have been spying some gorgeous dresses from The Wedding Embassy. Check out another beautiful dress here
