The Day

Mary and Greg had an elegant affair from start to finish. Since they had a spring wedding in New England, they were aware that the weather could be unpredictable. So they had planned for all weather situations. Therefore we had more than one beautiful backdrop for photos. Mary and Greg’s CT spring wedding at the Goodwin Hotel and The Hartford Golf club had gorgeous, moody photos as well as bright, outdoor spring photos. Both locations were a perfect complement to this gorgeous day.

The wedding kicked off in downtown Hartford. We met the ladies as they were getting ready at The Goodwin. It is a historic hotel that has undergone an amazing restoration. It is such a fun place to host out of town guests. Not only is the décor great but it is also home to a delicious Tyler Anderson restaurant. If you have not eaten at Terreno, go check it out.

Greg managed to pull off one of the nicest and smartest grooms move we have seen. Not only did he write his bride a note, but he gave a personal note to all the bridesmaids as well. While I like to think he was securing himself future allies by winning over the best friends, truthfully, Greg is just the nicest guy.

Since the early afternoon was quiet in the city, we opted for a first look outside the Goodwin. We love a good stroll down a city street in photos. However, in addition to outside, we LOVED the library. After taking photos at the Goodwin, everyone traveled just a few miles to the private Hartford Golf Club. Nestled is a bustling area of West Hartford, the club is well tucked away and perfectly serene. Mary and Greg got quite lucky with the weather, and they were able to exchange their vows outside.

It is believed that rain on your wedding day means that marriage will last the test of time. While I don’t think these two need that extra bit of luck, they got it anyway. Just as Mary and Greg were pronounced husband and wife, the rain made a brief appearance. It definitely made for a dramatic exit down the aisle! It was perfectly timed and ended as quickly as it began. We were able to steal the couple away for some photos on the golf course once the rain passed. Then it was time to party! Guests were entertained by funny and heartfelt speeches (always my favorite part of the day) and great music from the band.

We had such fun capturing this day. AND there were many familiar faces amongst the guests and wedding party! Sara, the maid of honor was a previous bride. Check out a photo here. Her husband was the best man in our New Year’s wedding. You can check out that blog here. Amongst the guests were saw the brother of a past bride and cousins of three previous brides as well. For us, seeing all the connections we have made through the years makes these weddings the best kind of workdays!

Mary and Greg, congratulations! We wish you all the happiness and thank you for including us in your day.
