Like many New Yorkers, Covid lockdowns created the desire to move out of the city for more land and easy living. When Jess and Chenly decided to buy their first home together, they didn’t purchase it for the wedding. However the perk of a backyard wedding was definitely in their minds. Less than a year after moving into the house, Jess and Chenly exchanged vows lakeside in their upstate NY backyard. It was a beautiful setting for fall wedding and a perfect way to share their new home with friends and family. 

Jess and Chenly met in NYC, but they came from very different parts of the world. Jess made her way from the West Coast and Chenly came to the U.S. from Australia. Guests came from near and far to celebrate these two. And a celebration it was! The catered event had some of the best food we’ve had. The caterers treated guests to fresh breads, charcuterie, and grilled meats. Then the main course, which was served family style, was paired with delicious sides and roasted vegetables, . Once the sun went down, they switched to their brick oven and cranked out personal pizzas. No one went hungry at this tented affair! And the tent looked beautiful. The decor and the colors looked amazing against the gorgeous fall backdrop. We loved the mix and match color scheme and glassware. You can check out all the details from the day below.

Though there were guests from all over, many people were still unable to attend. Since we have all become adept at zoom, family and friends were able to stop by all evening to join the festivities. This wedding was full of so many fun and unique moments. We loved the knot tying ceremony they added before the vows. And the of evening fireworks were a treat for everyone. And it would be a great wedding story if it didn’t end with a visit from the local police. We asked them to commemorate their visit with a photo, but the officers were being camera shy. Despite it only being 9PM, for someone on the lake, the party got a little to exciting for a Saturday night! We, on the other hand, thought it was perfect.
