After 6 years of dating, these two made it official. They put a ring on it two weeks ago in a backyard ceremony along the Connecticut Shore. Like most of the weddings in 2020, this one was not their original plan. The location was different. The guest list was smaller. But the love was just the same. I don’t know about everyone else, but we personally loved backyard, tented weddings. I am not sure how, but they are always the perfect combination of relaxed and sophisticated. Mike and Jihan were married at a private home Milford.
Since this all came together quickly, Mike and Jihan partnered with Evan, owner of One For The Books Events to set up the wedding they dreamed up. They had planned the details and had a vision, but needed someone to put it all together on the day. While tented weddings are beautiful, they also required lots of work to bring a blank canvas to life. It is hard to do it all on your day, so a wedding day coordinator worked well for them. Jihan’s cousins were incredibly generous and offered their backyard for the party. We learned from them that this was in no way the first neighborhood wedding, will likely not be the last, and is a full neighborhood affair. Each wedding has taken place amongst all the neighbors’ yards. The tent and ceremony were at the family home while the dance floor was next door. We took photos one yard beyond that. It was truly remarkable the collective effort that went into making this day an amazing reality.
Since things were a bit different with the pandemic, after speeches were concluded, Mike and Jihan were surprised with a video from family and friends. Loved ones from all over the country took a moment to send best wishes via video and then put together for all to see. It was such a special touch to extend the love on their wedding day. The day was full of love, laughter, and so many touches unique to these two. We even experienced our first candle lighting ceremony with flares. And these were not just any flares, but rather those that Mike gave to Jihan as a gift when they were first dating! I will never get enough of the stories we hear about the couples during the or the anecdotes they share in their vows. There were plenty of great ones at this wedding. We were so honored to have been apart of their celebration. Cheers!
What a beautiful day for an awesome couple! Thank you for sharing such a fun array of photos for us to enjoy reliving it over & over again!
