We tell all of our couples that we hope the wedding is just the beginning of our relationship. We become invested in your love story and want to see the happily ever after. But in this case, the wedding was the beginning of our relationship. For ten years, Jake was a cross country running coach. And Matt (the groom) was on his team. Each of his runners held a special place in his heart, and he has kept up with them over the years. He watched Matt grow up from that teenage kid to a proud marine and now a happily married man. This was an extra special wedding for us to capture.
Matt’s parents have a home on the ocean in Rhode Island. Newport Tent Company put a up a beautiful tent in the backyard, and everyone enjoyed the afternoon party along the water. Athina’s bohemian bridal dress was a nice complement to Matt’s marine uniform. I loved how they each let their individual personalities shine on their special day. All of the small touches of the day were simple and elegant. Family and friends toasted these two and enjoyed a feast from Iron and Grain food truck.
Matt and Athina headed out before the sun the very next day. Although they made could only make a brief trip up north, it was great that they were able to find the time to celebrate their love and commitment with those closest to them. We had a fun time meeting everyone and photographing the day.
